The Instrumentation Cables play a vital role in measurement, supervision and control of the processes in the Project and Engineering Industries such as Power generation & distribution, Oil refineries, Chemical & Fertilizer industries etc. Introduction of microprocessor based computerized instrumentation has demanded stringent quality requirements alongwith special electrical parameters for Instrumentation cables. Very low level electrical signals pass between measuring end and display units which are situated far off. These low level signals are prone to external noise pickups during transmission. All this means that the cables to be used for instrumentation should be designed and manufactured very carefully.

Range of Instrumentation Cables :

Conductor : 0.5 sq. mm to 2.5 sq. mm dia or higher sizes of electrolytic copper
    wire, ABC /ATC, solid/stranded copper conductors.
Insulation : PVC/ Polyethylene/ Halogen Free FRLS Polymeric Compounds.
Elements : Pairs/Triads/Quads, colour coded/number printed /dual colour
Shields : Aluminium Polyester tape screen with Copper drain wire or
    alternately with Copper wire braiding. Individual element or
    Overall shielding as per requirement.
Element : Concentric formation or unit & group formation as per applicable
laying   specification.
Armouring : Galvanized steel wire/strip armoured.
Specification : BS : 5308 (1 & 2), IS-1554 Pt(l), IEC:189 (1 & 2), VDE : 0815,
    ENI : 0181.00 and as per customers specifications.

Shielded Instrumentation Cables

Svarn has expertise in manufacturing high quality Individual at Overall Screen & Shielded Instrumentation Cable. These cables are suitable for measurement & control in the field of electronics. Cables are designed to transmit signals without any external interference like for Connection of Instruments, Process Control Systems, Interconnection of Switching System Equipment, Plant Automation, different sensitive equipments, Computers Networking, Digital Control / Measuring Data Communication Systems etc. Special application of these cables is their suitability for maxi-termi point connections. Instrumentation cables provide vital communication link between sensing device & read out equipment for Analog & Digital signals.

Conductor :

Annealed Bare/ uniform coated with Tinned/ Silver Plated, High Conductivity, and Electrolytic Grade Solid/ Stranded/Flexible Conductor. (Generally manufactured with conductor sizes 0.5/ 0.75/ 1.0/ 1.5/ 2.5 sq. mm, conforming to BS EN 50228,BS: 5308 - (I & II), IEC-189 - (I & II), IS 1554 - I:88, VDE 0815 )

The most common types of insulation material used in the manufacture of Instrumentation cables are PVC/PE/Halogen Free FRLS Polymeric Compounds suitable upto 105°C

Multi-Pair Cables :

The cores within a pair are identified by one of the following methods :

Pair/ Triad/ Quad :

Two/ Three/ Four cores are uniformly twisted together to form a Pair/ Triad/ Quad with maximum lay length 80 mm or as per customer requirement. The lay shall be so chosen as to minimize cross talk in the cable.

Individual Shielding :

If required, Individual Shielding may be of Poly Aluminium (Thin Layer of Aluminum Foil bonded to Polyester Film)Tape with Annealed Tinned Copper Drain Wire. It prevents the shorting of adjacent shield and minimizes the cross talk and ground loops. A Tinned Copper drain Wire is installed to provide continuous contact with the shield and allow to connection to ground. Tinning the drain wire reduces galvanic corrosion between drain and shield.

Laying of Pairs/Triad/Quad :

Pairs/ Triads/ Quads are laid up with suitable lay. The outer most layers are right hand lay and successive layers are laid up with opposite lay. Then, a Melinex Tape is provided to bind up laid up Pair/ Triad/ Quad.

Overall Shielding :

Overall shielded cable constructions are recommended for use in Instrumentation computer and control application where signals are transmitted in excess of 100 Mili volts except in areas where high voltage and current sources create excessive noise interference. If required, Overall Shielding may be of Annealed Tinned Copper Braiding/ Poly Aluminium (Thin Layer of Aluminium Foil bonded to Polyester Film) Tape with Annealed Tinned Copper Drain Wire. Braiding ATC Shield has high tensile Strength and provides better coverage in flexing application. They are easier to terminate. This provides effective shielding; cross talk and noise are kept to an absolute minimum.

Inner Sheath :

The laid up Pair/ Triad/ Quad after shielding are provided with an inner sheath, which may be either Extruded Inner Sheath or wrap with PVC Tape.
